As a co-founder of The Windows Project, a cross cultural collaboration between Cuba and The United States through dance, we have brought choreographers, set designers, costume makers, lighting directors and other dancers down to Cuba to set works on their national dance companies. During the three projects we have successful run over the past four years, I have served as strategic director and head of marketing. I've assisted with fundraising, event production, social media and tour guide. We've raised over $300,000 since our inception, and every dollar has been used to better the often troubled lives of artists in Cuba.
In addition to the three choreography projects, we were able to have a documentarty created about the life of Pedro Ruiz entitled, "Coming Home". It chronicles the return of choreographer Pedro Ruiz to Cuba almost 20 years after he fled from the communist country. In the process he not only reconnects with his native dancing roots, the seed is germanated for The Windows Project.
During this process, I helped concept, pitch and sell the idea of the documentary which was finally picked up and produced by WNET, New York City's PBS station.
